Sharing Food, Sharing Hope: Your Community Health Hosts Feast for Freedom Lunch

At Your Community Health, we believe in the power of food to bring people together. On Thursday 1 May 2025, we proudly hosted a Feast for Freedom lunch, where staff and community members gathered to share a meal, raise funds, and show support for people seeking asylum.

Whilst primarily a fundraising event for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), we were also proud to raise money for Palestine Australia Relief and Action and West Welcome Wagon, supporting communities in need both locally and abroad.
Guests brought delicious food and generous donations to help the ASRC continue its vital work—providing food, shelter, health care, and support to more than 7,000 people seeking asylum each year as they begin their journey of settling into Australia.
Feast for Freedom is a national celebration that honours the strength, culture, and contributions of refugees and people seeking asylum. It recognises that sharing food can break down barriers, build understanding, and unite people from all backgrounds as one community.
At Your Community Health, we are passionate about supporting the health and wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers. Our Refugee Health Clinic offers long appointments, access to interpreters, health education, and help navigating the health and social support systems in Victoria. No referral is required.
Events like this reflect our values of inclusion, compassion, and community. We are proud to stand with those seeking safety and a new beginning, and we thank everyone who joined us in making this event a meaningful success.
Together, we are building a healthier and more welcoming community for all.
