LGBTIQA+ health
We provide a range of services designed to meet the needs of individuals within the LGBTIQA+ community. Everyone’s health and wellbeing needs are different, and we pride ourselves on providing accessible, inclusive and quality healthcare through a range of online (telehealth) and in-person services.
When accessing our services, our aim is to ensure that you feel seen, heard and supported on your journey towards achieving your health and wellbeing goals.
We are Rainbow Tick Accredited.
Rainbow Tick Accredited
Your Community Health (YourCH) is proud to have Rainbow Tick Accreditation, highlighting our commitment to offering safer, more affirming and inclusive places for clients, staff and volunteers from LGBTIQA+ communities.
The Rainbow Tick is a nationally recognised framework developed by Rainbow Health Australia. It supports organisations in embedding inclusive practices that meet the unique needs of LGBTIQA+ clients, staff, and communities.
Many LGBTIQA+ people experience discrimination or distressing encounters when seeking healthcare, which can have serious and preventable impacts on their health and wellbeing. In being assessed against six comprehensive standards and achieving Rainbow Tick for the second time, we are showing LGBTIQA+ community members that they can confidently use our services, join our team, and volunteer with us.
Creating safer spaces for LGBTIQA+ communities
Feedback through the Rainbow Tick Accreditation recognised Your Community Health as a leader in LGBTIQA+ service delivery—especially in gender-affirming care—and commended our strong frameworks, inclusive communications, and leadership in the space. Staff shared that inclusion at Your Community Health “occurs so naturally,” and many felt not just safe at our health centres — but genuinely valued.
It was also noted that:
- Our Statement of Inclusivity and frameworks like the Lived Experience Framework and Community Engagement Framework create a strong foundation for an inclusive space
- Innovative programs like Being Valued and Trans and Gender Diverse in Community Health enhance access and safety for trans and gender diverse communities
- The presence of LGBTIQA+ voices at every level of the organisation — from our Board to lived experience roles — means these communities are well represented
- Our inclusive practices are embedded in recruitment, service design, risk management and everyday care
“Your Community Health are congratulated for a strong focus in relation to continuous improvement and for fostering a learning and development culture in their commitment to providing safe and inclusive environments for LGBTIQA+ communities. Your Community Health is a leader and innovator in LGBTIQA+ service delivery, particularly in gender-affirming care. They build and maintain very effective partnerships and use every opportunity, both formal and informal, to build capacity in external systems and organisations. The Being Valued and TGDiCH initiative are great examples of this.”
