The Community Safety Outreach Program (CSP) aims to improve the health and well-being outcomes for people engaged in problematic alcohol and drug use in public spaces in Darebin, with a focus on Reservoir, East Reservoir and also Preston.
The CSP provides brief intervention case management supports people to access the AOD services, community health services and the broader health system. The CSP program also initiates referrals to other services to support clients with their housing needs.
The program is working very closely with local partners including Reservoir Neighbourhood House, Victoria Police, Merri Outreach Support Service (MOSS), Darebin Information, Volunteer & Resource Service (DIVRS), Darebin Council and Your Community Health’s Allied Health services, and Needle & Syringe Outreach Program.
The CSP also undertakes community development work at identified public/ social housing precincts and encourages people to engage with the team and other local services to access support and assistance.
The program operates on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays and includes a weekly two-hour drop-in clinic at the Reservoir Neighbourhood House on Thursdays to increase visibility and access for local residents.
