Community Outreach
We promote health and wellbeing for diverse groups through a number of programs and initiatives run within the community. Here are some of the ways you can get involved and strengthen community ties.
Volunteer with us
Volunteering with Your Community Health offers a rewarding opportunity to support local programs and services while connecting with others. We welcome individuals with diverse skills and experiences to help create a friendly environment at our events and sites. Volunteers can enhance their own skills, meet new people, and make a meaningful impact in the community. Your support is invaluable to us!
Needle and Syringe Program
This free service offers clean injecting equipment and essential health information for individuals who inject drugs in northern Melbourne. The aim is to promote safer practices and connect users with additional health resources.
Clean injecting equipment and health information are available at our health centres from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. There are no fees or waiting lists for this service.
Youth Support
Our Youth and Community Worker supports young people aged 12-25 in identifying their needs and goals for healthy wellbeing and connection. We provide individual and group support in a safe environment, focusing on their physical, mental, and social health.
Our services include information and referrals for mental, physical, and sexual health, fostering social connections, and helping with access to food and accommodation. We also assist with obtaining Medicare and proof of age cards, aiming to empower young people to confidently access health and wellbeing services in their community.
Coffee Cart
Coffee Cart provides complimentary beverages at our health centre, local neighbourhood house and at select community events. It is operated by local volunteers, self-sustainable, and environmentally friendly. Coffee cart aims to promote social connection, empower community members and foster skill development.
Coffee cart runs at East Preston Community Centre fortnightly on Wednesdays and weekly at out wulempuri barring site on Thursdays.
We’re always looking for more volunteers, please contact engagement@yourch.org.au if you’re interested.
