We offer a range of gentle exercise, fitness and strengthening classes facilitated by physiotherapists and allied health assistants.

Our services
We offer a range of gentle exercise, fitness and strengthening classes facilitated by physiotherapists and allied health assistants at our three health centres. Referral to our groups requires a Physiotherapy Assessment at one of our centres.
Programs may be offered in languages other than English on request. If you would like to join a group and speak a language other than English, we can arrange an interpreter to come with you.

Physiotherapy can assist with a number of issues including musculoskeletal problems, pain, balance and mobility.
A physiotherapy assessment by a Your Community Health physiotherapist is required prior to joining all our groups. Please call (03) 8470 1111 to arrange a physiotherapy assessment. A medical clearance from your doctor may also be required.
Physiotherapy group programs run at our three health centres, and are facilitated by physiotherapists and allied health assistants.

Group fees range between $5 and $8 per session for low and middle income clients.
Group fees for Home Care Package and NDIS clients are outlined on our Fees page (please discuss with your Physiotherapist for more details).
Strong and Balanced Group
This is a six week program run by a physiotherapist and allied health assistant designed to help people reduce the risk of falls through exercise and education. Joining the program can improve your balance, joint mobility, muscle strength, bone density, general health and wellbeing, independence and confidence. Each week, an education session around the risk factors associated with falling will be delivered by a health professional – occupational therapist, podiatrist, physiotherapist, dietitian, counsellor and pharmacist. Strong and Balanced exercise only sessions are also available.
Who: Anyone with a history of falls, difficulty with balance and/or unsteady using walking aids

- Mondays 10am-12pm at balit wurun health centre
- Wednesdays 1pm-3pm at wulempuri barring health centre

Gentle Exercise Groups
Currently full; waitlist in effect
Gentle exercise group is supervised by an Allied Health Assistant and offers a mix of chair-based and standing low-intensity, low-resistance exercises for older adults.
Who: Older adults
When and where: Mondays 2pm-2:45pm at wulempuri barring health centre.

Seated Strength Group
This 8 week exercise group program is a mix of chair-based and standing low-intensity, low-resistance exercises for older adults.
Who: Older adults

GLA:D – Hip and Knee
GLA:D® is a six-week education and exercise program supervised by a Physiotherapist. It is for people with hip or knee osteoarthritis symptoms. Participants who have completed the program report less pain and reduced use of painkillers. They also report high levels of satisfaction with the program and increased levels of physical activity 12 months after starting the program.
This program is unique in that the education and exercises provided can be applied to everyday activities. By strengthening and correcting daily movement patterns, participants will train their bodies to move properly, prevent symptom progression and reduce pain. GLA:D – Back
GLA:D® Back is a treatment option for patients with persistent or recurrent low back pain that affects everyday life. The 9 week group program consists of exercise and education delivered by a GLA:D® BACK trained physiotherapist. More information about the program is available here.

When: Wednesdays and Fridays: 11:30am-1pm

Hydrotherapy
This 6 week, water-based exercise program guided by a Physiotherapist is designed to assist you to achieve your goals by managing pain and improving your function and quality of life. This program takes place in the heated pool, between 33-36 degrees Celsius.
Who: Adults
When: Mondays, 11am-11:45am

Men’s Exercise
This group is for anyone who identifies as male requiring exercise to assist in the management of chronic conditions, post-surgery or injury.
Who: Men 18 years and over.
When and where: Mondays 3pm-4pm at wulempuri barring health centre

Your Moves
Your Moves is an eight week individualised program in a group setting that helps you achieve your personal exercise goals. The sessions offer a mix of strength training, cardiovascular exercise, balance work and joint range of movement exercises.
This group will improve your confidence with exercise and get set up with an exercise program you can continue at home or in the community.
Who: Adults

- Tuesdays 3pm-4pm at wulempuri barring health centre
- Fridays 2pm-3pm at wulempuri dhumba health centre
