Q+Law is a free legal service for LGBTIQA+SB individuals in Victoria, providing safe access to legal assistance via phone, online, or in person.
Support at our health centre
Q+Law visits our wulempuri barring health centre every fortnight on Wednesdays. During their sessions, the team delivers initial advice, information, and referrals. Supported by the Victorian Government and guided by a community-led group, the inclusive team is dedicated to upholding the legal rights and wellbeing of its clients. Clients can self-refer or be referred to these sessions by their Your Community Health clinicians.
Q+Law provides a free state-wide safe entry point to accessing legal assistance for all individuals who identify as part of LGBTIQA+ communities. It is a program of Fitzroy Legal Service, in partnership with Queerspace, Drummond Street Services Inc.
Your Community Health clinicians refer clients who identify as a member of LGBTIQA+ communities. Clients can self-refer or be referred to these sessions by their Your Community Health clinicians.
Types of issues Q+Law can help with and advise on include:
- Discrimination, harassment and/or violence on the basis of LGBTIQA+ identity
- Issues affecting trans and gender-diverse people, such as name change or access to services
- Family violence
- Family law
- Employment law
- Tenancy law.
