At the last organisational Board meeting, Your Community Health formalised our support for the Yes to Voice to Parliament campaign and that Voice, Treaty and Truth are all essential steps to a more equitable future.

Your Community Health is based on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples, and we pay our deep respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We also pay our respects to our Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Island team members, volunteers, clients, and community. We acknowledge First Nations peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land and that sovereignty has never been ceded.

At the core of Your Community Health’s values, strategic priorities, and Kaydo Kertheba (walk together) Reconciliation Action Plan, is our commitment to advocating for First Nation communities to have their voices amplified, and influencing systems that impact this. We support equity for First Nation’s people.

Voice, Treaty and Truth were all proposed in the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The Statement calls for, “… the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution and a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making and truth-telling about our history”.

The Statement was presented to the nation five years ago on 26 May 2017 by delegates to the First Nations National Constitutional Convention. The 250-member convention was held after the Referendum Council travelled around the country and met with over 1,200 people (Reconciliation Australia).

The Voice to Parliament referendum will give Australians the chance to write a new chapter into the Constitution and build a brighter future.

YourCH will be doing all we can to communicate and engage with our community in support of a Yes vote for a constitutional recognition and a voice to parliament.
