We are excited to share that Your Community Health won in three categories at the 2026 Pride in Health + Wellbeing Awards:

  • Service Provider of the Year
  • Gold Service Provider
  • Executive Leadership for Vanessa Brown, Executive Director Capability and Impact.

The Awards recognise and celebrate the incredible efforts of organisations and individuals working to make health and human services safer, more inclusive, and affirming for LGBTQ+ communities across Australia. Based on results from the Health + Wellbeing Equality Index (HWEI), they highlight leaders in inclusion, innovation, and person-centred care.

Some of the feedback we received from the Pride in health + Wellbeing team noted:

  • “Amazing work! Your thorough and strategic approach to the HWEI submission throughout 2025 is clearly reflected in your outstanding results. We look forward to continuing our partnership to maintain and build on the work that has led to this achievement — and to potentially progressing toward a Platinum status or project in the future. We also acknowledge your strong and consistent commitment to supporting LGBTQ+ inclusion across your workforce.”
  • Really strong and clear work in LGBTQ+ inclusive service delivery space – we appreciated the thoroughness and clarity in approach that Your Community Health put into their submission and look forward to ongoing partnership in the HWEI…”

These awards mean a great deal to us. For more than 50 years, Your Community Health has supported people who face barriers accessing mainstream healthcare. We remain deeply committed to delivering inclusive, accessible and safe health services for all—and this recognition affirms the importance and impact of that work.

Our Darebin community is home to one of Victoria’s most vibrant LGBTIQA+ populations, and we’re proud to reflect this diversity across every level of our organisation—from our Board to lived experience roles. This ensures LGBTIQA+ voices are not only heard, but embedded in how we design and deliver care.

These achievements are only possible because of our incredible team, whose passion, care and advocacy continue to create safer, more inclusive spaces for our LGBTIQA+ colleagues and communities.

A special thank you to Keira Leike, Manager of Equity Projects, for her insight and dedication, and to Vanessa Brown, Executive Lead for Equity Projects, whose leadership has been instrumental in embedding this work across the organisation.

We are truly grateful for this recognition and proud of what we continue to achieve together.
